Incursion de Long – The Feature Film of the Godmother – Ce Dont Mon Coeur a Besoin (What My Heart Needs)

Since 2012, the Ile Courts Festival invites an independent filmmaker to be the godfather/godmother of the Festival. Creating an opportunity for the filmmakers and cinephiles of Mauritius to challenge their views on cinema by meeting major filmmakers.

This year, Chantal Richard will be coming from France to present her documentary feature ‘Ce Dont Mon Coeur à Besoin’(What My Heart Needs). The screening will be followed by an open discussion between the Godmother and the audience.

CE DONT MON COEUR A BESOIN

How do you fulfill your dreams when you’re 20 years old and living in a small isolated village in the Senegalese Sahel? While searching for friendship, love and ways to make contacts overseas, day by day Ibrahima, Djiby and Abou are building a double life for themselves on Facebook. Sending messages in a bottle, writing their diaries? Their posts and research on social media are their only link with the outside world – our world from which they know they are excluded.

The Director and Godmother of the Festival – Chantal Richard

After studying philosophy and literature, then cinema at I.D.H.E.C, Chantal Richard dedicated herself to the making of her films. Whether fictional or documentaries, those have often taken her to Africa. She also animates film workshops, among others at FEMIS, ENS Lyon, CREADOC Angoulême, the University of France Télévisions, the MRSH of the University of Caen, the Association Porteurs d’Images in Mauritius, Varan Workshops…
